The Immediate Gummy Smile Makeover
Posted in Cosmetic Dentistry
Posted on March 23, 2020 by Dr. Gerald Marlin
When this patient came to us, she was self-conscious that her gummy smile line detracted from her looks. On top of this, her existing veneers were not the optimal size or shape. With her wedding around the corner, she wanted an immediate smile makeover that would give her a “simply radiant, simply natural” smile.
As part of Dr. Marlin’s diagnostic workup, our in-house technicians hand-crafted temporary dental crowns, which were longer and more balanced with the width of her teeth than her existing veneers. The services of a periodontist (gum surgeon) were enlisted to trim the gingival (gum tissue) to match the design of the temporary crowns.
Using this plan, we provided this patient with an immediate smile makeover in just one day. She first visited the periodontist, who trimmed her gum tissues. Then, she came to our office to have her old veneers removed and her teeth prepared for crowns. At that point, we custom fitted her new temporary crowns to her teeth. Voila!
Needless to say, she is thrilled with her immediate smile makeover and looks forward to receiving her final crowns in time for her wedding. Her results demonstrate how important “simply radiant, simply natural” teeth are when it comes to enhancing beauty — instantly.
