Premium Quality Porcelain and Equipment

Our full mouth dental lab in Washington, DC, features exceptionally high-quality equipment to deliver superb precision and aesthetics. Our two porcelain furnaces are known for achieving the best aesthetics and strength for all ceramic or porcelain fused to precious metal crowns. In addition, our dental lab technician checks the fit of each crown to its die using a microscope and makes sure it’s biocompatible with your surrounding gingiva (gum tissue).

D2000 Laboratory “Bench” Scanner

An intraoral scan at the chair is often inaccurate enough to create the best-fitting zirconia crowns, veneers, or implant abutments. Many years ago, we invested in the D2000 bench scanner to still create a digital impression and achieve a well-fitting zirconia restoration. In this way, our laboratory technicians can use digital technology more accurately.

Cone-Beam Computed Tomography

At Elite Prosthodontic Dentistry, we are frequently early adopters of new, proven technology. While Dr. Marlin has relied on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) for many years to analyze bone structure, nerve tissue, and sinus cavities for diagnosis and treatment planning, Elite invested in the Carestream 9300 CBCT in 2016 for greater efficiency and better imagery. Our scanner offers highly accurate and undistorted 3D radiographic images that show the bone’s height, width, and angle, the location of nerves and sinuses, and other pertinent data, all essential for precise surgical preplanning.

CBCT Scan-Generated Surgical Guides

The 3D image from the CBCT scan is used to design highly accurate surgical guides. Our prosthodontist believes using a surgical stent or, preferably, a CBCT scan-generated surgical guide is imperative to achieve the most precise implant placement. Research indicates that fully guided implant surgery results in significantly lower 3D deviations between the planned and actual implant positions than partially guided and freehand placement.

CBCT Interactive 3D Implant Planning System

At Elite, we use an interactive 3D software implant planning system. This software allows us to examine the anatomy of your jaw in one-millimeter increments as described above. The ability to virtually “place” implants on the CBCT in preferred positions and assess the results functionally and aesthetically allows for a more accurate and predictable surgical/restorative outcome.

Digital X-Rays

Digital X-rays are an invaluable tool for diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health, with one-sixth the radiation exposure of traditional X-rays. This digital technology enables better detection of cavities between your teeth while helping to determine bone health. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, and assess trauma-related damage.

Intraoral Scanner

An intraoral scanner is a device shaped like a wand or large pen that captures 3D digital impressions of your mouth with greater accuracy and comfort. Light source from the scanner is projected onto the targeted scan area, then displayed in real-time on a monitor.
